News Summary

Tulane University has welcomed Owen Geiss, a right-handed pitcher from Long Beach State, to its baseball roster. Geiss, who had a mixed performance in his previous season, aims to bolster Tulane’s pitching staff as the team prepares for the upcoming baseball season. This marks the fourth transfer pitcher added to the team within a week, demonstrating Tulane’s commitment to enhancing its competitiveness. Geiss, with two years of college eligibility remaining, is expected to make a significant impact on the team’s performance moving forward.

New Orleans – Tulane University has added Owen Geiss, a right-handed pitcher from Long Beach State, to its baseball roster. Geiss made the commitment as part of a strategic recruitment effort as the team builds its lineup for the upcoming season.

Geiss served as a weekend starter for the Long Beach State Dirtbags during the last season, finishing with a record of six wins and eight losses. His performance included an earned run average (ERA) of 4.90 over 68 innings across 16 appearances, where he recorded 11 starts. Throughout the season, he allowed 75 hits, walked 25 batters, and struck out 44 players.

In the previous season as a freshman in 2024, Geiss posted a 4-3 win-loss record and an ERA of 5.33 after making 14 appearances that totaled 50 2/3 innings on the mound. His early collegiate experience provides Tulane with a promising addition as the team seeks to strengthen its pitching staff.

Geiss hails from Mission Viejo, California, and played high school baseball at Capistrano Valley High School. He brings with him a solid track record from his previous programs, alongside two remaining years of eligibility in college baseball, making him a valuable addition to Tulane’s roster.

Notably, Geiss is the fourth pitcher to commit to Tulane from the transfer portal in just one week. His fellow newcomers include Jack Brafa from Tennessee Tech, Jack Frankel from Liberty, and Sam Larson from Denison. This influx of new talent reflects the coaching staff’s proactive approach to enhancing the team’s competitiveness.

Tulane’s baseball program aims to improve its performance after previous seasons and is keen on integrating skilled players like Geiss into the squad for the upcoming year. With the recent transfers, coaching staff are expected to devise strategies that maximize the potential of this new talent, fostering growth and development throughout the roster.

The addition of experienced pitchers such as Geiss is also intended to provide leadership and experience to younger players on the team, crucial for team cohesion as the season progresses. This strategic recruitment aligns with Tulane’s goal to build a formidable baseball program capable of making a significant impact in future competitions.

As Tulane University prepares for the next baseball season, the new recruits, including Geiss, hold promise to reshape the team’s dynamics and enhance their prospects for success. The upcoming season will showcase how effectively these players can integrate into the team’s established structure and respond to the challenges ahead.
