James Canfield has embraced his new role as CEO of the OC Fair and Event Center, kicking off his tenure with preparations for the upcoming 2025 Orange County Fair, which is set to begin on July 18 and run through August 17. Canfield, who officially started his position on July 1, has expressed clear enthusiasm about his responsibilities, emphasizing the excitement surrounding this year’s preparations.
This year, the fair will span 23 days and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the region. Canfield, a Southern California native, previously worked as the senior director and general manager of the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama. His return to California marks a significant milestone in his career.
The 2025 OC Fair promises exciting new attractions for all attendees. Among the highlights is a unique exhibit showcasing hand-painted original movie posters. Fairgoers can also look forward to an array of distinctive food options, including bacon cotton candy on a pork belly stick and a bacon-wrapped carnitas burrito.
In addition to the culinary treats, the fair will feature a lineup of live concerts at the Pacific Amphitheatre, kicking off with performances from George Thorogood and classic rock legends Foghat. Tribute acts for renowned groups such as ABBA and the Bee Gees are also scheduled, showcasing the rich musical heritage that remains popular in today’s culture. Canfield has praised the role of tribute bands in making classic music accessible to more audiences.
Other notable performances include indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums, along with classical artist Beck, who will be sharing the stage with the Pacific Symphony. Music fans are expected to flock to the venue for these diverse musical experiences.
This year’s fair will also introduce thrilling carnival rides, including the Aviator, Royal Wheel, Frog Hopper, and Soundstorm. To ensure a quality experience for all visitors, daily attendance will be limited to 50,000 individuals. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, as no sales will be conducted at the gate.
General admission prices are set at $13 for entry on Wednesdays and Thursdays and $15 on weekends. Special rates are available for seniors, while youths aged 6 to 12 can enter for just $7 any day. Additionally, parking rates are established at $15 for cars and motorcycles and $30 for buses and limousines.
Guests who purchase tickets to performances at the Pacific Amphitheatre, The Hangar, and Action Sports Arena will enjoy same-day fair entry. The fair hours will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and extend to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Fairgoers will have the opportunity to sample various fair foods for only $5 until 4 p.m. each day, catering to different culinary tastes. While soft-sided coolers, sealed food, and beverages are permitted on the fairgrounds, pets and smoking will not be allowed.
Fair officials are committed to enhancing guest experiences by prioritizing satisfaction over sheer attendance numbers. By maintaining limited daily attendance and providing diverse entertainment and culinary options, the 2025 Orange County Fair is poised to deliver a memorable experience for all attendees, celebrating the local community and the joys of summer festivities.
