News Summary

The Ohio State Buckeyes are intensifying their recruitment efforts for Luke Fahey, a four-star quarterback from California. Despite recent interest shifting towards Indiana, Ohio State aims to secure Fahey as a priority for their roster, particularly as they prepare for the upcoming seasons. Fahey’s impressive performance at Mission Viejo High School highlights his potential, making him a key target amid Ohio State’s ongoing recruitment strategies.

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes are intensifying their recruitment efforts for four-star quarterback Luke Fahey from Mission Viejo, California, as they aim to bolster their future roster amid growing competition. This offseason, head coach Ryan Day has successfully attracted numerous talented high school players, but securing Fahey is now a top priority.

As of May 21, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projected Ohio State with a 46.3% chance of landing Fahey. However, following Fahey’s official visit to Indiana on June 6, interest shifted, reducing Ohio State’s chances to 29.8% while Indiana’s rose to 35.2%. This marked a significant change in the recruitment landscape as Fahey grapples with his decision among some top contenders.

Luke Fahey is currently ranked as the No. 23 quarterback and No. 35 player in California, and the No. 377 player nationally, according to On3 Industry Rankings. Over his last two seasons at Mission Viejo High School, he completed 268 of 397 passes for an impressive total of 3,822 yards, with 43 touchdowns and only six interceptions. In addition to his passing prowess, Fahey has also shown his athleticism on the ground, recording 679 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns during the same period.

Ohio State is looking to host Fahey for an official visit on June 20, which will mark his first trip to the Columbus campus. The Buckeyes currently have 14 commitments for the 2026 recruiting class, but notably, they have yet to secure a quarterback, underscoring the urgency to land Fahey. His interest in Ohio State is significant, as he has expressed that it is a dream school for him and his parents, although he has not yet received an official offer from the program.

In addition to Ohio State, Fahey is also considering Indiana and Stanford as his top choices. His recruitment is poised to be highly competitive, especially with recent developments from Ohio State, including the commitment of Jamier Brown, the nation’s top wide receiver for the 2027 class. Further solidifying their efforts to enhance their offensive future, the Buckeyes have also extended an offer to Monshun Sales, a five-star wide receiver from Indiana ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 2 at his position for the same 2027 class.

The quarterback situation at Ohio State is notably complex, with several high-profile players holding multiple years of eligibility. Additionally, Brady Edmunds, a five-star quarterback, has already committed to the 2027 class, adding layers to the strategic dynamics of the recruiting process. Fahey’s standout performance last season reflects his capabilities, boasting a completion rate of 76%, 1,638 passing yards, and 17 touchdowns without any interceptions.

Currently, Fahey holds 26 total offers from various college programs and has previously visited Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Indiana. As he continues to evaluate his options, experts suggest that Fahey could play a crucial role in reinforcing Ohio State’s quarterback position, particularly as he has a prior connection with current Buckeye receiver Phillip Bell from their time together in high school.

Ohio State’s commitment to enhancing their roster with elite talent is evident, and as recruitment continues to unfold, the pursuit of Luke Fahey will remain a pivotal focus for the Buckeyes as they prepare for the forthcoming seasons.
