Mission Viejo is set to host its annual National Night Out event on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM. This community-focused occasion will take place at the Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park, located at 22056 Olympiad Road, and is being organized by Mission Viejo Police Services. The event aims to promote community safety and encourage positive interactions between law enforcement and residents.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of free food options including hot dogs, corn dogs, and the popular Kona Ice, available while supplies last. The event will feature numerous activities suitable for all ages, ensuring that families can participate and enjoy together. Some of the activities planned include arts and crafts, games and prizes, face painting, interactive booths, exciting raffles, and engaging displays from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

An intriguing highlight of the evening will be a dunk tank where local educators, including teachers and principals from the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and the Capistrano Unified School District, will serve as dunk targets. This fun activity aims to foster community spirit while allowing attendees to cheer on their local educators.

To promote sustainability, attendees are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles to make use of the city’s hydration station, playfully referred to as “the water monster.” Those who bring a water bottle will also receive an extra ticket for opportunity drawings that will take place at 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.

This yearly event is a part of a national campaign designed to enhance the relationship between citizens and their law enforcement agencies. National Night Out celebrates community partnerships, raises awareness about crime prevention efforts, and enhances community-police relations. Over the years, such events across the country have allowed neighborhoods to come together, share in camaraderie, and foster a safer environment in their areas.

The National Night Out initiative began in 1984 and has since grown to include thousands of communities across the United States participating in similar events. This year’s Mission Viejo event aims to continue that tradition by providing a platform for community engagement and promoting a safe and secure environment for residents.
