Darleen was born in 1934 in Inglewood, California, and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1952. Throughout her life, she lived in various parts of California and Washington, eventually returning to La Habra, California, after retirement. She dedicated a significant portion of her career as a paralegal, working for various agencies within the Federal Government, highlighting her tenure with the Coast Guard as her favorite position.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Dee Wilson, her grandchildren, Collin James Wilson and Jennifer Nicole Wells, and her niece, Karen Jean Silva. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Lee Tapparo, who was a significant part of her life.
Outside of her professional life, Darleen had a passion for reading and often enjoyed listening to books on tape. She also spent countless hours solving crossword puzzles, a hobby that was both stimulating and enjoyable for her. A person of inspiration, Darleen carried a copy of her favorite poem, “The Guy in the Glass” by Dale Wimbrow, in her wallet. She often shared it, using the poem’s message to encourage others to reflect on personal integrity and self-worth.
