Luke Fahey showcases his quarterback skills on the field.
Luke Fahey, a four-star quarterback from Mission Viejo, has officially committed to Ohio State University for the 2026 recruiting class. This decision comes shortly after a visit to the campus and follows a competitive recruitment process with offers from schools like Indiana and Stanford. Fahey, who has shown impressive skills on the field, completed 76% of his passes last season and is looking forward to joining a renowned program alongside former teammates and aspiring for a successful college career.
Mission Viejo, California – In a move that fulfills a lifelong dream, four-star quarterback Luke Fahey has committed to Ohio State University for the 2026 recruiting class. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Fahey, who has been an avid fan of the Buckeyes throughout his life.
Fahey made his commitment official just 11 days after he took an official visit to the Ohio State campus on June 20. The talented 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback faced competition from several programs, including Indiana, Stanford, and Oklahoma State, before ultimately choosing the Buckeyes as the best fit for his aspirations of playing in the NFL.
His decision to commit is backed by a strong belief in the coaching abilities of head coach Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler, both of whom he believes will help him maximize his potential. As he gears up for his senior season at Mission Viejo High School, Fahey’s focus is on solidifying his position as a leader on the field.
Fahey’s commitment to Ohio State adds to an impressive recruiting class, representing the 20th overall commitment for 2026. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 355 overall prospect and the No. 23 quarterback in the class. Recently, he gained recognition from recruitment analysts, earning Alpha Dog honors at the South County Classic 7-on-7 tournament.
During his junior season, Fahey showcased his skills by completing 76% of his passes, accumulating 1,638 yards with 17 touchdowns and no interceptions. The previous year, he passed for 2,184 yards with 26 touchdowns while sharing quarterback duties, proving his ability to compete at a high level.
As he prepares to join Ohio State, Fahey anticipates the competitive atmosphere, highlighted by the storied rivalry with Michigan and the pursuit of national championships. Notably, he reunites with current Ohio State freshman wide receiver Phillip Bell, a former high school teammate, fostering an additional sense of familiarity and support as he transitions to college football.
With this commitment, Fahey becomes the fourth quarterback recruited from Southern California during Ryan Day’s tenure at Ohio State, joining accomplished players such as former Buckeye star C.J. Stroud. Known for his accuracy, quick release, and ability to maneuver on the field, Fahey may stand smaller compared to typical Big Ten quarterbacks, but he remains confident in his dual-threat capabilities.
In addition to his achievements on the football field, Fahey is also a dual-sport athlete, actively participating in basketball and lacrosse. His diverse athletic background further enriches his profile as an up-and-coming talent in collegiate sports.
Throughout interviews, Fahey consistently emphasizes his commitment to push his limits and compete alongside some of the best recruits in the nation at Ohio State. His excitement about joining a prestigious program backed by a dedicated coaching staff is palpable, laying the foundation for what promises to be an impactful college career.
