Orange County has unveiled its “Hot 150” list, which showcases the top high school football talent expected to make a significant impact in the upcoming 2025 season. This specially curated list highlights the best players in the region and reflects input from coaches, video highlights, college recruiting interests, player statistics, and observational insights from reporters. Though this selection is keenly anticipated, players not featured on the list are nonetheless expected to shine and prove their abilities on the field this season.

Top Players Featured on the Hot 150

The list includes some standout players, with the top ten showcasing a mix of quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive linemen. Leading the pack is Luke Fahey, a senior quarterback from Mission Viejo, who has committed to Ohio State. Over the past two seasons, Fahey has completed 68% of his passes, amassing a remarkable 3,822 yards and scoring 43 touchdowns while having no interceptions last season.

Another star on the list is Tomuhini Topui of Mater Dei, a senior defensive lineman weighing 320 pounds and also a USC commit. He was named the reigning Trinity League MVP for his impressive play. Following closely is Trent Mosley, a wide receiver from Santa Margarita, who is also a USC commit. Despite missing four games last season, Mosley managed 61 catches for 908 yards and eight touchdowns, now just eight catches shy of breaking Santa Margarita’s career receptions record.

The list continues to highlight elite talent: Vance Spafford (Mission Viejo, WR, Miami commit), Ryan Hopkins (Mater Dei, QB, Wisconsin commit, transfer from JSerra), and Timmy Herr (San Juan Hills, QB, last season’s league MVP) are all anticipated to deliver exceptional performances this season.

Additional Notable Players

Other noteworthy players on the Hot 150 include Kayden Dixon-Wyatt of Mater Dei, who has the potential to surpass his previous season’s total of 50 catches for 693 yards, Brady Edmunds from Huntington Beach, a junior quarterback and Ohio State commit who holds over 5,913 career passing yards, and Mark Bowman, a tight end from Mater Dei recognized for his significant touchdown receptions last season.

The roster of notable talents doesn’t end there; Dax Fifita (Santa Margarita, LB), who recorded 100 total tackles last season, and Jeremiah Williams (Tustin, DL/RB), a dual-threat player contributing to both offense and defense, are expected to make their marks. Rising sophomore Mason Fakatou from Orange Lutheran is also hailed as a promising player with immense potential.

Coaching Insights and Player Assessments

Coaches from across Orange County played a crucial role in assembling the Hot 150 list, as evaluations were rooted in player performance, physical capability, and ongoing college recruitment interest. This collaboration aims to provide an accurate overview of the brightest prospects in high school football within the region.

Upcoming Football Season Highlights

With practices scheduled to commence on July 28 for teams with zero-week games, and the first week of games set to kick off on August 4, the anticipation for the upcoming high school football season is palpable. Teams will face off in exciting matchups throughout August, continuing the tradition of showcasing top-notch high school athletics in Orange County.

This season presents an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate their skills under the Friday Night Lights and contribute to the high-energy atmosphere that characterizes Orange County football. As the season unfolds, fans and coaches alike will be watching closely to see who rises to the occasion and solidifies their status on the Hot 150 list and beyond.
