News Summary

Costco is planning to open a new stand-alone gas station in Mission Viejo, which will be its largest and first fuel-only location. Featuring 40 pumps for members, the construction is set to begin in fall 2025. This expansion comes alongside extended operating hours for gas stations across the nation to enhance convenience for customers. The Mission Viejo station reflects Costco’s commitment to improving service while offering competitive fuel prices and innovative shopping solutions.

Mission Viejo, California – Costco is set to expand its gas station operations with the construction of a new stand-alone gas station in Mission Viejo, making it the company’s largest gas station and its first dedicated fuel-only location. The new facility will feature 40 pumps exclusively available for Costco members, set to enhance the shopping experience for its loyal clientele.

Located approximately 2 miles from an existing Costco Warehouse Store, which currently operates a traditional gas station, the new station will be built on the site of the former Bed, Bath & Beyond store. Construction is anticipated to commence in the fall of 2025, with plans for the station to open in spring 2026.

In addition to this expansion, Costco has also recently announced extended operating hours for its gas stations across the nation. The new hours are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, with Saturday hours from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday hours from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This adjustment reflects Costco’s continuing efforts to provide greater convenience for its members, having changed the gas station hours earlier this year to extend operational times.

Costco is implementing these changes alongside a rollout that will allow Executive members to have early access to shopping, beginning June 30, 2025. The Executive membership, which costs $130 annually, offers additional benefits, including a 2% annual reward on qualified purchases, while the standard Gold Star membership is available for $65 per year.

The Mission Viejo expansion is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing service convenience while providing competitive pricing on fuel. Earlier in the year, Costco also announced plans to offer a “Buy Now, Pay Later” payment option through a partnership with Affirm for online purchases, enabling members to pay over time with interest rates ranging from 10% to 36%. This initiative is expected to further streamline the shopping experience for Costco members.

In related developments, a Costco location in Union, New Jersey, is planning to add a gas station anticipated to open by the end of March 2025. This new station will feature 18 fueling stations that dispense Kirkland Signature Gasoline. Nearby Costco gas stations already exist in Edison and North Plainfield, while the Bridgewater location does not currently have a gas station.

The expansion of the gas station in Mission Viejo illustrates Costco’s commitment to meeting the needs of its members by providing accessible fuel options and improving convenience through extended service hours and innovative payment solutions. As the company continues to grow its infrastructure, it remains focused on enhancing customer satisfaction across its membership bases along with competitive offerings.
