Dana Point has announced the return of its Free Summer Trolley service for the 2025 season, operating from May 23 to September 1. This complimentary transportation option will be available daily until Labor Day, providing residents and visitors with convenient access to various attractions in the area.

The trolley will operate under specific hours: from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, extending to 10:00 PM on Fridays. On Saturdays, service starts earlier at 10:00 AM and runs until 10:00 PM, while Sundays will see the trolley in service from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Special holiday hours are set for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day, operating from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

Dana Point has introduced additional trolley stops for the 2025 season to better serve the community. New stops include:

  • Stop S17: Calle Naranja and Calle Juanita (Sunset Park)
  • Stop S18: Camino de Estrella and Calle Naranja
  • Stop S19: Camino de Estrella and Mira Costa (a connection point with San Clemente)
  • Stop S20: Camino Capistrano and Calle Loma (Pines Park)

All trolleys are free to ride and fully accessible for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the harbor shuttles will operate every 15 minutes, enhancing connectivity throughout the region.

The Dana Point Trolley serves as a regional hub, linking South Orange County coastal cities and providing easy access to local attractions. To enhance the rider experience, users are encouraged to download the Dana Point Trolley App, which provides real-time information on trolley locations and schedules.

For those looking to travel to San Clemente, the San Clemente Trolley will be in operation daily from May 23 until September 30, featuring service every 15 minutes as well. The trolley hours for San Clemente are similar, with operations from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays and 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sundays.

The San Clemente Trolley is also family-friendly and equipped with ADA accessibility features, including a wheelchair lift and designated seating areas. This ensures that all residents and visitors can access the trolley service comfortably.

Connections with other regional trolleys aim to enhance mobility for the public. The Dana Point Trolley connects to the Laguna Beach Free Coastal Trolley at Salt Creek Beach/Ritz Carlton and the San Juan Capistrano Free Weekend Summer Trolley at Del Obispo and Stonehill. Riders can also connect to the Laguna Niguel Summer Weekend Trolley at the North Bound Trolley heading to the Laguna Niguel Metrolink Station.

City officials emphasize the importance of maintaining ridership counts to secure ongoing grant funding for the trolley program. Both Dana Point and San Clemente are dedicated to sustaining their trolley services through robust community support and enhanced public awareness. The new bike racks on the trolleys further promote cycling, making it easier for residents to combine different transit options.

For those interested in planning their trips, detailed schedules and maps can be downloaded from their respective mobile apps, making it simple for residents and visitors to navigate the trolley systems effectively throughout the summer.
