The CIF Southern Section finals on Saturday, May 17, will showcase some of the top track and field talent from Orange County. Competitors are primed for an exciting day of races and jumps, with several athletes from local schools already setting impressive marks this season.

Leading the charge in the girls’ 100 meters is Justine Wilson from Rosary, who has clocked a remarkable time of 11.82 seconds. Close behind her is teammate Maliya Collins, who ranks second with a time of 11.93 seconds. Eden Murray from Mater Dei rounds out the top three, finishing with a time of 12.09 seconds.

Wilson’s prowess in sprinting does not stop with the 100 meters, as she also leads the girls’ 200 meters with a time of 23.89 seconds, followed again by Collins, who trails closely at 24.15 seconds. Additionally, in the girls’ 400 meters, Wilson once more showcases her speed with a leading time of 55.32 seconds.

Other notable performances in the girls’ events include Anne Packard from JSerra, who claimed victory in the girls’ 800 meters with a time of 2:07.72, and Chloe Elbaz from JSerra, who recorded the fastest time in the girls’ 1,600 meters at 4:49.70. Holly Barker from Trabuco Hills topped the girls’ 3,200 meters with a time of 10:03.95.

In the hurdles categories, Jada Faison from Rosary leads the girls’ 100 hurdles with a time of 14.81 seconds, while Natalie McCarty from Newport Harbor claims the top spot in the girls’ 300 hurdles with a time of 43.25 seconds.

Additionally, the Rosary girls’ team made history by setting an Orange County record in the 4×100 relay with a time of 45.21 seconds.

Turning to the boys’ events, Benjamin Harris from Servite has emerged as a standout in the 100 meters, finishing with a swift time of 10.33 seconds. Leading the boys’ 200 meters is Devin Bragg of Los Alamitos, who achieved a time of 21.11 seconds. In the 400 meters, Jaelen Hunter from Servite marks the top time at 47.74 seconds.

For the 800 meters, Alden Morales from JSerra has set the bar high with a winning time of 1:50.80. Evan Noonan from Dana Hills also excels, recording the best times in both the boys’ 1,600 meters at 4:04.88 and the 3,200 meters with a finishing time of 8:55.95.

In hurdle events, Leo Francis from Santa Margarita records the best time in the boys’ 300 hurdles at 38.17 seconds.

The Servite boys’ team has also made waves, setting Orange County records in both the 4×100 relay at 40.00 seconds and the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:12.33.

In the field events, Brandon Gorski from Mater Dei stands out in the boys’ high jump, achieving a height of 6 feet 8 inches, while Brady Furr from Santa Margarita took the top spot in the pole vault with a height of 16 feet 3 inches. Additionally, Leo Francis excels in long jump with an impressive distance of 23 feet 9 inches, and Tomuhini Topui from Mater Dei leads in the boys’ discus with a throw of 166 feet 7 inches.

As the athletes prepare for the CIF Southern Section finals, excitement builds for what promises to be a thrilling competition among some of Orange County’s finest track and field talent.
